Preparation
In order for everyone to gain the most from the ClearingWay we offer the following suggestions: (Worksheets are provided in advance for those booking a ClearingWay, and their participants.)
For the ClearingWay Client:
It would be helpful if you would expand on the issue you wish to work with in say less than a page, including some examples of how they show up, or how you think they will show up in future. If you have any insight on past contributors to any of these, that would be worth briefly capturing too.
How will you know that you have made a significant change with these issues? This is part of the testing process, which may extend outside of the actual ClearingWay day. During the day we will likely be testing how you feel about something before & after doing some tapping, or when you imagine doing something in the future. However the true test is when you are presented with it in real life, or in some simulated test experience. So it is always worth thinking about how you might test your results, not because it might “not have worked” but because we may have missed some aspect that didn’t show up on the day. (For example clearing someone’s fear of even looking at a picture of a spider. It might work great, can look at a photo, even look at a real one…. until it moves & then the fear “comes back”. It didn’t “come back”, it is just an aspect that may not have been covered if only tuning into pictures of spiders during the tapping work.)
You can also select & rate 5 specific events as described below for the other participants. We may work specifically on these & we may not, depending on how the process unfolds for you. However they will be useful starting & reference points in any case.
What is the worst thing about your current situation?
What do you most want to feel differently about in your current situation?
What do you consider the most unlikely thing to achieve, looking forward from your current situation?
If there was one thing to release that would make all the difference, what would it be?
Note: If we come across something that you want to work on, but not speak about, we can do that. As long as you can stay tuned into it, we can work with it without everyone (or even me) knowing the details.
For Participants:
You might like to have a look at the 10 minute video clip on Meridian Tapping Techniques here: http://www.meridiantappingtechniques.com/
There is a documentary/movie called The Tapping Solution that you might like to watch if you get the chance, but it is not necessary. There is a short promo of it here:

Before the day it would be good if you each spent a few minutes thinking back over your life to some specific events that still carry an emotional charge for you. They might be things that other people would think are a big deal & they might also be things that might seem small to others but were impactful times for you.
We suggest you pick out 3 – 5 specific events. Give each one a short title, so you know what it refers to, and then give each one a rating of 0 – 10. The rating is about how intense you feel about the event now, when you think about it. If you have an event that is a real biggie, then you don’t have to actually think about it & go into it, just make a guess about how intense you think it would be if you did let yourself really remember it.
During the ClearingWay we will probably not address your events directly, and you will not have to share anything about them. However we may ask you to pick one (or more) throughout the day to have in the back of your mind whilst we all tap along in support of the ClearingWay client. This is called Borrowing Benefits, and many people find that even though their issue may be completely different, that they still find their intensity on their issue goes down when tapping along for someone else.
The actual numbers are not so important, it is just so that you have some reference point to compare with during the day, or at the end. If the whole “numbers” thing doesn’t really work for you, then you can try ranking your 3-5 events in order of most intense to least intense when you think about them. Then during the day you can compare & see if the order changes.
Some Clarification on “Specific Events”:
Tapping generally works most effectively when we work on very specific events. That means something we can narrow down to a particular time & place, with particular people/things. For example, “the time my father said xyz to me at my nth birthday party & I felt humiliated” is specific. Whereas something like “I always had a hard time with my father” is too general, although it may seem specific on the surface.
By being very specific, we tune right into something that we can work on. This also means that we can easily measure our progress & modify our approach if necessary. It doesn’t matter if there are heaps of very specific events all related to one issue or person. We just get really specific about a few of them & work with those, and often there is a generalization effect that happens and many of the others seem to get reduced in the process. This is a bit like a table with lots of legs, ie lots of specific events holding it up. Once we remove a few specific table legs the whole thing becomes unstable & collapses, ie without the need to cut off all the legs.
